The finding and hiring of quality, reliable Subject Matter Expertise is one of the most difficult and time consuming tasks that a publisher or corporate trainer will tackle. Freedom Learning Group’s SME database is unparalleled in both its size and quality, and FLG hires, manages and pays the SMEs while providing a single point-of-contact for our clients.

Freedom Learning Group was founded on the mission of serving those who serve - Military Spouses & Veterans - by providing those highly qualified professionals with portable consultant opportunities they could take with them anywhere in the world. Underemployment of Military Spouses is one of the leading challenges to military families. Spouses with advanced degrees - attorneys, chemists, physicians, engineers - must continually seek new employment while deploying with their service member from duty station to duty station.

What we also produced as a result of that mission, quite by accident, was a game-changing, infinite resource for the publishing and educational services industry.

Publishers and Universities often rely on faculty as subject matter experts for content and curriculum development, whose quality and availability can fluctuate depending on their other responsibilities.

We recognize that high quality, engaging, educational content can only be produced by strong passion for the subject and a motivation to see students succeed. Our Military Spouses and Veterans, all qualified subject matter experts in their own right;

  • Often have full time availability

  • Want to serve and support our partners in their vision for their product

  • Take significant pride and full ownership in their work and quality

  • Are passionate about student engagement and success

  • (Most importantly) are grateful (to you) for the opportunity for continued engagement in their chosen profession despite a constantly changing and fluctuating lifestyle in military service.

Our Vetting Process

Freedom Learning Group qualifies SME contributors based on a combination of “field experience”, pedagogical experience, and academic qualifications. For example, our STEM Instructional Designers all have backgrounds as chemists, engineers, mathematicians, in addition to possessing teaching experience and instructional design expertise. Our Senior Project Directors (SPDs) work with our clients within the planning stage to evaluate specific roles, tasks, and timing for an individual or team effort towards an objective or desired outcome. We put “the right person in the right seat” as part of our commitment to quality and efficiency, adapting the U.S. military’s  "Troop to Task" and "Componency"  doctrine to serve our partners.

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE

OUR SERVICE RECORD

“I worked with FLG’s team of subject matter experts on a massive testbank project in STEM. After searching everywhere for qualified, reliable SMEs (with minimal success) I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently FLG provided a team of actual scientists and engineers to author the content. Most amazing of all, when they phoned in from their duty stations for weekly project standups, sometimes at 6AM or 1AM in the morning their time...they were excited about being part of the team and our project. Truly the most incredible group of professionals I’ve ever worked with to produce content.”

Our commitment to our client partners

“Nathan and I founded this company so that we could invest in the lives and professions of the thousands of military service men and women and their spouses who are faced with underemployment due to the military commitments, despite their advanced degrees and subject matter expertise. We’re continually amazed at how much they return that investment, not only in support of FLG’s social mission and organizational culture but more importantly in their support and service to our clients and partners.”
